The newest 3DS platformer, Fractured Soul, releases tomorrow on the eShop for $11.99. Fractured Soul is a dual screen plaformer/action title that, for all intents and purposes, looks high difficulty and complicated. The standard run, jump and shoot mechanics are now accompanied by the ability to jump between a mirror image of the main character on the top and bottom screens. Using this ability will maximize a player's ability to solve puzzles and dominate combat.
Managing director and Endgame Studios, Grant Davies, commented on his studio's vision when creating Fractured Soul:
"Fractured Soul is for core gamers like us that grew up playing classics like Mega Man and Castlevania. We wanted to capture the intense, pulse-pounding action of those games, but to give ours a unique twist that really turns the game on its head. With the dual-screen, dimension-shifting gameplay I think we've done that -- we hope 3DS gamers out there will agree."
Exactly what the 3DS needs right now is a selection of core games that pull in dedicated gamers to the handheld. While it's a pity Fractured Soul won't be available in a retail box for moms and bros to pick up during the holiday sales, hopefully there's a substantial audience already invested in the 3DS just waiting for a solid action title on the handheld.
Fractured Soul releases tomorrow as a downloadable title on the 3DS eShop. Check out the trailer to see just how intense gameplay can get.
