The highly anticipated fifth class for Borderlands 2, the Mechromancer, now has a release date and price point. The DLC will be available, tentatively, on October 16 for $10 or 800 MSP, though you might recall that pre-orderers will receive the DLC for free. Whether pre-orderers will be receiving their DLC prior to later purchasers has yet to be clarified, but considering Borderlands 2 will be released September 18 less than a month wait is great.
Initially revealed at PAX East in April, the robotic-armed red-haired engineer was initially rumored to be free for all players. Unfortunately that proved to be untrue, merely being a preorder bonus, but perhaps the early confusion led to the Mechromancer's development to be sped up -- a boon to all. The Mech will probably be the first DLC to be delivered in Borderlands 2, though a whole season of content (four premium campaigns) will follow thereafter. Perhaps the first story DLC may be released in a similar timeframe to build up hype.
Only two week to go until Borderlands 2 is released, coming to Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3. We're expecting an all-around better experience from the crew at Gearbox, though Borderlands itself was a great game with plenty of original ideas. Step up the scope and scale and we could be looking at a Game-of-the-Year contender. Don't miss this one!
