It's usually the case that the publisher forces a developer to put multiplayer into their game, but in the case of Sniper Elite V2, it's been kind of the other way around. Publisher 505 Games declined to fund multiplayer for the console versions of the shooter, so developer Rebellion funded it themselves, though only for the PC version (which they self-published). 505 is now apparently impressed by the work and bringing the mode over to consoles, so soon everyone can get in on the action.
Thankfully, in a rare treat console players won't have to pony up any dough for the new mode: it's free of charge to all. The DLC will launch later this year, and will feature Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Team Distance King, and Distance King modes.
