Media Create has revealed that Nintendo currently maintains a 70 percent share on all software and hardware sales in Japan.
The sales tracker firm confirmed that Nintendo’s dominance in the region marks its highest percentage in the market for the past five years. Nintendo's software makes up 70 percent of the games market, while the company is responsible for 75 percent of all hardware sales. Comparatively, Sony has a 29 percent share in software sales and a 23 percent share of the hardware market.
Over the past year, the sales of Nintendo's 3DS XL, Wii and DSi have together maintained a 75% share of all hardware sales in Japan.
Last week, 69.74% of Japanese software sales came from Nintendo platforms, with Dragon Quest X and New Super Mario Bros. 2 contributing to the aforementioned figure.
