PlayStation Vita sales exceed 2.2 million as of June 30
PSP outselling its successor more than two to one
Sony has confirmed that, as of June 30, the PlayStation Vita has sold more than 2.2 million units.
Following unconfirmed reports pertaining to the figure, an SCEE representative has now said the latest sales figure the firm has released is 2.2. million Vita units being sold worldwide.
Before the confirmation, the last confirmed sales figures for the handheld were at just 1.8 million as of the closing stages of March. Consequently, it means Sony only sold 400,000 Vitas during Q2.
During its last quarterly earnings report, Sony said that device and the PSP sold a total of 1.4 million units, which means a million PSPs were sold. In a worrying fact for Sony, the PSP has been outselling its successor more than two to one.
Despite the device not selling as nearly as much as Sony would have hoped for, the firm has stressed that the Vita will not receive a price cut in 2012, but they are working on "cost reduction".

I'd like to know what the "cost reduction" will include. I have a feeling its more on the bundle and more affordable accessories, I doubt they would come up with a budget vita yet. I'm actually thinking about getting one to replace my psp thats starting to go on me, but with my luck after I do a new model will be announced or something.
