Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono is offering his help to DONTNOD Entertainment in constructing Remember Me's combat.
The cyberpunk IP from Capcom will adopt a melee-oriented, combat-based style, where finishing moves and dodges are a big part of fighting. No doubt Ono has some plenty of advice in this department, having acted as producer for both Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter X Tekken in the last two years.
Capcom senior producer Mat Hart had more than a few kind words to say about the man:
"He's my boss and he and I speak very regularly about the game, and he's come out with me to Paris. He knows the team and knows the game very well. I always benefit from his wisdom when I'm chatting to him about how we're progressing."
Creative director and DONTNOD co-founder Jean-Maxime Moris says the team is trying to keep the combos in Remember Me accessible, "so they don't take too much skill to perform."
Hart also pointed out the advantage of Eastern and Western developers teaming up to create a game, rather than adopt an "adversarial" approach.
"It's a bit like the situation Capcom has with Ninja Theory. The strategy of western development is building teams together - Capcom and a developer coming together and making a game together - as opposed to quite an old-fashioned approach of being adversarial. We're moving away from that.
"This is something Jean-Maxime and I have worked on very hard to ensure this is a collaboration. When we saw the game way back last year, we instantly knew this had the DNA to support the Capcom brand and be a really strong part of our portfolio. This is going to be a major franchise for us.
"So having that kind of Capcom crunch you expect, of course, and that's stuff we want to talk about in a much wider context as we get closer to launching the game. At this stage it's fair to say Capcom fans are going to enjoy this game."
