The LEGO: The Lord of the Rings video game will feature 85 playable characters, with many not found in any of the movies.
The Lord of the Rings books have an incredible number of characters, but the film adapations unfortunately had to cut out many of them. The team at Traveller's Tales appear to want to fix that with the 85 playable characters in the LEGO game, which means we may finally get to see Tom Bombadil interacting with Frodo, Sam, Pippin, and Merry.
Filling out the 85 characters may mean some generic ones will be included, like Moria and Mordor orcs or Gondor and Rohan soldiers. Traveller's Tales certainly has no shortage to choose from however, so it will be interesting to see who all makes the final cut.
This LEGO adaptation seeks to deliver the definitive LotR experience, with a complete recreation of Middle-Earth from the original J.R.R. Tolkien maps. Everything will be located in their correct locations from the lore and fully explorable on foot or horse once it is unlocked. Traveller's Tales wanted something more than just various hubs to check out, so why not give us the ability to explore all of Rivendell or Rohan?
LEGO: The Lord of the Rings will release later this year for the PC, PS3, PS Vita, 360, Wii, 3DS, and DS.
