"an official chronology, complete history"
I don't know too much about the Zelda games, but isn't nearly every game set in a an alternate existence.

Mystic Aurora,
That's entirely possible. They just haven't made any games that use or develop upon those routes.

I'll definitely pick it up when it comes out. The Japanese copy in the picture looks really good except for the banner thing on the bottom, which I'd hope comes off, and maybe being a little small (unless the photographer has tiny hands?). Hopefully ours looks pretty similar.

The games are not necessarily alternate existences, but cycles of Ganon's bid for power on a single timeline. What throws a wrench in the story is The Ocarina of Time game, which splits the timeline in three (I'm personally not fond of time travel in fiction). After that, the subsequent in-lore chronology diverges into "what-if" timelines.

It's a fairly interesting read here: http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline

"Link Failed" isn't quite the way I understand it. Link travels back in time to aid the past, but in doing so the "present" never had Link's past. Basically, you have an Adult and Child Link in one universe, but an additional adult link for the child grown up (without ever having the aid of the adult). The only way they could add additional timelines is if another game involves time travel to the past. Furthermore, Twilight Princess is a direct result of Link growing up without the aid of his Adult self. I assure you Nintendo would not have allowed Dark Horse to miss-publish Zelda lore.

They've allied with Nintendo? I never thought Nintendo would help us with the Zelda Timeline.
