Okay, let's get to the selling point of this title (in my mind) straight away. The entire cast of the 2009 Star Trek reboot is contributing their voices to this game, it takes place after the events of the movie, leads into the sequel, and is co-published by Paramount Pictures. Also, it's developed by Digital Extremes, to boot -- as in, BioShock 2 and The Darkness 2 Digital Extremes. We're talking a high profile movie-game here, and it's barely getting any press today!
It's Star Trek, an action adventure game starring Captain Kirk and Spock battling against the reptilian species of the Gorn. It's a co-op experience, built with co-op in mind from the very start, though gameplay will be assymetrical. As in, Spock will play entirely different from Kirk, just as you'd expect. PR is pitching this as, "the most fully realized and varied co-op experience of this console generation," which is a pretty bold claim. Proof is in the pudding, Star Trek!
Expect the release of Star Trek Q1 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. You know, maybe all this excitement is just mismanaged anticipation of the next Star Trek movie from Abrams. In fact, I'm going to go watch the reboot again right now.
