EA's gamescom press conference promises Origin updates, achievements, Mac support

EA is in the midst of it gamescom keynote and COO Peter Moore has taken the stage to talk about Origin. With over 500 games from more than 50 publishers, Origin is growing at an unprecedented rate. Moore assures us that EA isn't happy just maintaining the status quo, however, and promises many more updates for Origin in coming months. Specifically, Moore is talking about Mac game support, achievements, and the inclusion of free-to-play games.

EA is also working on bringing Origin to the Android and, err, Facebook platforms. All-in-all, EA is exploring all potential markets and platforms for Origin, and of course expect them to expand their standard PC market as well. EA's Twitter has also promised some basic feature upgrades:

"Some of the new features coming to Origin are Achievements, Challenges, updated UI, Live Videos, and more! #EAGC"

EA's press conference reaffirm's the company's dedication to their Origin platform, which while unsurprising, is still interesting. Given EA's stock woes and PR issues related to Origin, one might wonder if they'd slow development of the platform. Quite the opposite, it seems, as EA is dedicated to upgrading Origin to be more competitive with Steam than ever.
