It's an update that has been teased ever since robot heads were shown in the "Meet the Engineer" trailer for Team Fortress 2. Puzzle after puzzle, leading clever gamers through secret rooms in popular maps led to a recipe that unlocked... a comic book. The comic revealed a third brother to Redmond and Blutarch Mann -- Gray Mann. Anyways, the story gets complicated, but in the end Valve announced Mann vs. Machine, Team Fortress 2's new co-op mode, set to release on August 15.
Cool story, right bro? Okay, okay, I'm sorry I even tried to summarize the background behind Wednesday's Mann vs. Machine update. The important thing is that it's almost here, and that it's going to be awesome. Here are the facts -- ahem. 6-players total, upgradable abilities and weapons, and waves and waves of robot enemies (unlike standard TF2 bots, these guys are specialized) in a variety of missions. Oh, and don't forget the unlockable items (hats) and achievements, too.
Short story, 6-player co-op mode for Team Fortress 2 is coming out on Wednesday for both PC and Mac. Team Fortress 2 is a free-to-play game, which means you and all of your friends can try this out as soon as it launches. Long story, Team Fortress 2 has lore, and Mann vs. Machines has been subtly referenced for close to two years. It's a story of a family, and now a third brother and his robot army threaten the future of Mann Co. It's all available for you to read, and it's absolutely great. We're such fanboys(girls), but we're not afraid to say we love you, Valve.
