Irrational Games was apparently working on two multiplayer modes for BioShock Infinite before deciding to not include them.
The first of these planned modes saw players being shrunk and then placed into an arcade machine where they'd battle waves of enemy, with the style being similar to a tower-defense game.
The second was a co-op mode entitled "Spec-Ops." Four players would progress through select levels stemming from the single player campaign.
Creative director Ken Levine commented on the now-defunct multiplayer modes after the rumor emerged, with the series' creator stating Irrational is "experimenting with things", and that only if they're "good enough", they'll be implemented into the game.
BioShock Infinite, which was recently dealt a blow with two key members departing Irrational, launches on February 26, 2013.
