Official mod tools for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings are on the way, as CD Projekt RED announced the REDkit will be unveiled at gamescom next week.
The REDkit will be shown behind closed doors during the convention, but hopefully CD Projekt uploads some videos to its website. There are already some mods available for the RPG, but a set of actual mod tools will go a long way towards improving the lifespan of the game.
The REDkit will allow for entirely new content to be added to the PC version of The Witcher 2, including non-linear adventures and new locations. Plenty more will be possible with the tools, especially when you look at some mods available for other RPGs.
One of the major points missing in the announcement was when to expect the tools and whether or not there would be Steam Workshop support for The Witcher 2. CD Projekt was fairly brief on the REDkit announcement, but everything should be revealed next week.
