Crytek has said the interest regarding revival of the TimeSplitters franchise is "not high enough yet."
Studio head Cevat Yerli explained that although the recent fan interest in the series was "quite high", it's still not enough to satisfy the developer. A prime example of what he's partly referring to is the publicized Facebook campaign that aimed to gather 100,000 'Likes' in order to bring TimeSplitters 4 back following its cancelation. However, only some 29,000 Facebook fans have 'Liked' the page.
"I tested through my official blog to see how big the TimeSplitters community is, and while the volume of responses was quite high, we feel it's not high enough yet."
Yerli, though, teased that Crytek may reveal surprises related to TimeSplitters soon.
"That being said, it did indeed trigger a deeper evaluation of what we do with Timesplitters, and I can only say this for now; we might have some surprises coming soon."
The Crytek boss has previously said that, based on how vocal fans were to revive the IP, a free-to-play version of TimeSplitters 4 is a possibility.
