Niche fighting franchise BlazBlue is cooking up it's third modern era title. Arc System Works announced today the development of BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma, sequel to Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift. The game will be released in arcades in winter later this year. If tradition holds, the title will then be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in both Japan and North America about 6-7 months later -- June or July 2013.
The "sequel" will feature three brand new characters being added to the roster: Bullet, Azrael, and Amane Nishiki. All three of these characters are shown off in the debut trailer for Chrono Phantasma, as well as the rest of the roster. It appears that everyone's old favorites are all returning, so no worries there. Chrono Phantasma will also feature a fresh sountrack, hopefully just as great as previous iterations, and updated backgrounds and skins.
BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma will be having a location test at Akihabara's Hey arcade August 6-12, so hopefully we'll get some game footage and early impressions soon. Otherwise, the title is scheduled for Japanese arcade release in November and, again, likely won't make its way to consoles until mid-2013.
Bang... bang, bang, bang!
