In case you were thinking, "Hey, Far Cry 3 doesn't have a broad enough appeal!" then have I got news for you. Introducing Far Cry 3's 4-player co-op campaign, which takes place 6 months prior to the main story and revolves around four Left 4 Dead-style unique personalities out for justice. The formula mixes it up from there, though, as each mission is much more "gamey" and arcade-like than story-based -- something you can check out in this E3 walkthrough trailer.
Far Cry 3 has already confirmed an extensive multiplayer system with Call of Duty-esque combat, experience levels, and kill-streak rewards. With the addition of a robust 4-player co-op system, it's tough to tell whether Far Cry 3 is just ridiculously content-rich, or simply bloated. Either way, it's no question that Far Cry 3 will have to sell a lot of copies to break eve. Single player, multiplayer, co-op, an open world content editor... only the most expensive of games can afford so much development. Hopefully no mode suffers due to the development of another.
Expect Far Cry 3 to release in December for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC -- though knowing Ubisoft, the PC version could very likely be delayed into 2013.
