It's sad to see a game with so much potential fall so quickly.

Wonder if they'll do anything for those who adopted the game prior to all these cuts and the restructuring as well? It'll be a hard community spin job ahead of the team to make sure they don't inflict massive damage in the process of transitioning.

Interestingly, bluexy pointed out to me that on the official site, they mention "first 50 levels." Perhaps the level cap is going up? That seems a little bit lame.

Agree with you there, tekmosis, but it's possible they can't afford to.

Ouch at those subscription numbers though.

It'll bring new players in for sure, I'll definitely be giving it a go when that sale hits Origin, but it's grim as anything to know the game is buckling already. It's upsetting how long WoW has/will destroy all competition's chances, hope Guild Wars 2 shakes things up.

Celes Leonhart I think what Guild Wars' success can be attributed in part to the simple fact that ArenaNet wasn't (and isn't) designing a "WoW killer." So many MMOs fall into this trap, where they have one really great feature unlike any other, but 90% of the game remains WoW-like.

Yup RabidChinaGirl, but it also helped that Guild Wars had its own entirely unique identity as a game - a CORPG (or whatever) as opposed to the run-of-the-mill WoW build that we were playing everywhere else. Although not entirely and still with the previous game's backing, GW2 has taken steps becoming more like a traditional MMO, but hopefully it'll be fine. It's just frustrating that even games like Lord of the Rings Online which I thought, at the time, was bounds ahead of WoW survived quite strongly for a while, but still had to fold.
