That team, properly funded, properly led, and properly allowed to create without any major time restrictions and deadlines, I believe can create a 90-plus rated title.

so true, corporate greed and deadlines (usually together) are stripping the creativity from the industry. let the designers create and perfect their games and release them the way they are supposed to be, not as broken, robotic, straight from the mould messes we've been seeing more and more often lately.

Hmm I hope they are merely using 90+ as a target and not something the studios have to hit to keep their jobs. THQ have a chance to show other publishers just how metacritic should be used, it should be used as a means to get across to the gamers what standard of game they may expect. THQ will be doing it wrong though if like EA, Activision, Bethesda and UbiSoft they start tying bonuses or job security to that rating, that is when they are using metacritic wrong and I hope they never go down that path.

Fingers crossed that Darksiders 2 is that 90+!
