Castle Story, the voxel-based creative strategy game, kickstarts into our hearts
Well under way in production, already met Kickstarter goal four hours in
Castle Story is the latest darling indie game to find success via Kickstarter. The Minecraft inspired voxel-based strategy game has raised its $80,000 goal in less than four hours of being live. The project is developed by Sauropod Studio, a two-man team who quit their day jobs about 6 months ago to develop Castle Story full time. Naturally, they're running a bit short of funds for, well, everything -- website hosting costs, software licenses, audio engineers, and food and water too. Looks like their worries are over for the interim.
And how! Castle Story looks legitimate, and well worth the support it has already garnered from the gaming community. When I say Mincraft-inspired, I mean it loosely, as the similarities end at voxels-based mining and building. Castle Story is a 3rd person strategy game with creative elements. Control a small army, collect resources, build a castle, and then defend your castle from an onslaught of enemies.
Castle Story is much more than the short description I've been able to provide, however. Luckily I've put their introduction video below so you can see the game in motion, along with it's great visual style (I love floating islands).
Sauropod Studio is using a Minecraft-like release system for their game, so if you Kickstart the project at $15 you get access to the upcoming beta and all subsequent versions of the game -- including the full release. A $25 donation will score you a prototype of Castle Story, released just after the end of the Kickstarter in 29 days. Look forward to Castle Story on both PC and Mac.

They need stretch goals TBH.
Got the $25 one. Curious about the Prototype.
They actually specifically mention Ouya....As a "not supported". Not planned on in the short term anyway.
I think the fire spread because of their youtube video from a while ago.
