Skyrim patch 1.7 is all bug fixes, 1.6 content for PS3 players

Beta version currently available for PC Steam users

A Skyrim 1.7 beta update is currently going live for PC players who are opted in via Steam. The new patch focuses mainly on stability issues, bugs, and other quality of life updates. To be fair, Bethesda has put out a lot of solid content recently with 1.6 and Dawnguard, and still have a lot of porting issues to deal with in the coming weeks. New content can wait for 1.8 or further DLC.

PS3 owners will be both happy and sad to hear that patch 1.6's content, which includes mounted combat, will be combined with the updates in patch 1.7. This means a longer wait, but at least the content is coming to the platform at all.

Dawnguard, however, is a little more complicated. The DLC pack had contracted exclusivity with Microsoft and the Xbox 360, starting with its release on June 26. While the exact details of the contract are unknown, it's assumed to be 30 days only, but since Bethesda contractually obligated not to discuss the issue we won't find out when the DLC will be coming to PC and PS3 until later this week -- at best.

Here are the updates coming in patch 1.7 for Skyrim. Again, this is currently just a beta release for PC. We'll update you a gain when the full release is announced.

General memory and stability optimizations
Fixed crash related to new water shaders
Fixed rare crash related to dragon landings
Fixed logic error with loading screens from add-ons (Xbox 360)
Using vampiric grip and swimming no longer prevents swimming animation from playing afterwards
Improved recognition with Kinect voice commands (Xbox 360)
Kinect-enabled dragon language shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish work properly (Xbox 360)
Fixed issue with Dawnguard Kinect-enabled dragon shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish (Xbox 360)

WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!? Why are you screwing us over, Bethesda!!!!!!!!! What did we do to you?!?!?!?! I guess I'm sorry us PS3 players don't line your wallets?!?! I could've certainly done that, but now you won't even give us a 1.6 update?!?!?!? Much less dawnguard!!!! Good God, you're not going to release PS3 dawnguard before the turn of the year, are you?!?!?!?

I like that everyone assumes that Bethesda owes us Dawnguard. They aren't screwing you over, you just have to wait. Just like I have to wait as a ps3 player. The lack of news is a bummer, but people need to chill.

Don't know why Bethesda does this. I very seriously doubt that they'll get better sales just because Xbox gets it earlier, but I guarantee Bethesda will lose money for annoying the crap out of ps3 owners. They're just hurting themselves. I'm sick of friking Xbox paying out the butt to make it look like ps3 versions don't even exist.

Microsoft paid to make sure they got the DLC 30 days before the other platforms.

I love skyrim but the fact that they just keep ignore all there other customers had made me disgusted in them as a company. I wont lie i will prolly buy all there dlc for skyrim, but after that im through with them. I do understand why they took money from microsoft, they are a business after all. I just dont understand the whole ignoring ps3 users for over a month about this and then giving a dumb answer on how there gonna combine the two patches and we have to wait longer and then no new news about dawnguard. I personally think other gaming companies should take lessons from bethesda on how to communicate with there customers, cause there so great at it.

Skyrims a snooze fest anyway. This games been sitting on the shelf for awhile, when I try to play it gets boring to fast. Only around level 50, with everything done but the civil war / main line done. I'm going to skip out on dawngaurd and download morrowind and wait for that 3.0 overhaul. Morrowind was the best 1.

Hasn't it been over a month?

To be honest, I'm fine with the delays. They need money. I had an Xbox 360, and I sold it because I love the PS3 More. I don't mind the wait, The PS3 is better.

k im a ps3 player and i do agree that bethesda is doing stupid stuff like combining the patches and makeing us wait but we got to chill and pc players have mods to play and we all just need to wait and chill

Yeesh, guys. I was a bit disappointed to find we aren't getting 1.6, but I don't mind a wait for Dawnguard. Good things come to those who wait. Plus I'm pretty much broke thanks to the Steam Sale. I wouldn't be able to buy it even if it came out right this second, so... party on 360.
