While development hasn't been a secret, Demiurge has been tweeting about it since the end of May, today brought about the officially announcement of Shoot Many Robots: Arena Kings. The follow-up to the 4-player cooperative action/RPG Shoot Many Robots will be a PC exclusive deathmatch-style competitive game. No release date yet, but Arena Kings is in closed beta and sending out more invites every week -- sign up for a chance to join in.
Will Jennings, lead designer of Arena Kings at Demiurge Studios, described his game thusly:
"We’re taking our favorite parts of Shoot Many Robots and stirring in PvP competition and gameplay that’s constantly evolving. It’s like a big tasty vegetarian stew with lots of guns in it, but also alive and mutating and fighting other soups. While I’ve got notebooks full of weapons, special moves, and pants I can’t wait to add, what’s really exciting is getting to hear from players in the earliest stages of the game’s development and giving them what they’re asking for, sometimes in the very next weekly update."
A true clash of kings, Arena Kings pits you against the opposing royalty -- you kill them, you take their crowns, and then you flush them (??) down the toilet. This game mode, my friends, is called "Royal Flush" -- as if it could be named anything else.
Expect all the crazyiness of the original Shoot Many Robots, but with a competitive system to support it, daily challenges, and a progression system to unlock upgrades and achivements. Shoot Many Robots: Arena Kings will be coming to Steam on PC soon, so expect news in the next few months.
