First look at Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, the Mass Effect 3 prequel anime from Funimation

At first I hoped it was a slice-of-life starring the Normandy crew

BioWare continues its Herculean effort at growing the expanded universe of Mass Effect. Today, during SDCC, the premiere trailer for Mass Effect: Paragon Lost was shown to a panel crowd packed like sardines. Here we have the first introduction to the prequel anime starring James Vega, leading into his roll in Mass Effect 3.

If you're like me, you may have started Mass Effect 3 and said, "Who is this James Vega guy? Why does he matter?" and, "Why is his accent so terrible?" The answer is that BioWare sketched out a plan for James Vega long before Mass Effect 3's release. He was as much designed to be an anime star as he was a supporting character in Mass Effect 3. Take that as you will.

Back on subject, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost will be available for purchase on Blu Ray/DVD starting November 13. Check out the trailer below and decide for yourself if James Vega is meant to be Mass Effect's next big hero.

Of all the interesting, vibrant, lovable cast throughout the entire Mass Effect series we get Vega. JACOB is more interesting than Vega, and Jacob is a stick of butter drying on the sidewalk.
