Blizzard fans certainly weren't happy to hear that the company would be skipping BlizzCon 2012, but the company has a good reason for doing so. In a nutshell, their manpower is simply stretched too thin right now, as the staff attempts to shatter expectations with three game launches before the year's end -- not to mention an upcoming tournament in Asia.
Yeah, shocking news, especially given the studio's notorious reputation for following their own time, releasing games when they're good and ready (though Diablo III is a point of contention here). They've already nailed one major 2012 release, meaning there are still two left.
Note that Blizzard is trying to hit the three-game mark, and they're not about to make any promises that it'll happen as planned. That is definitely less surprising.
For the diehard fans, the company has also recently partnered with Sideshow Collectibles to work on a new line of models for various franchises, from StarCraft to Diablo. Several figures were showcased during their panel, including a lovely 1:6 movable statue of Tychus. Before the panel's end, they teased a still unrevealed Sylvanas (undead version, obviously) model and noted plans to produce models of other iconic Blizz characters over time. Demon Hunter was mentioned, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves here.
