It seems their definition of "failure" is different to mine. I enjoyed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and I like the work Jerry Bruckheimer has done. Of course it seems as though PoP movie just didn't do as well as Ubi expected

Regardless, this will be interesting to watch, especially depending on who they focus on. I mean I like Ezio but we've seen a lot of him and the games seem to follow him through most of his life...so I assume they will follow another Assassin or maybe go back to Altair

ShadowJ Same here, I actually really enjoyed the Prince of Persia movie. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but it satisfied me both as a moviegoer and as a series fan. If they're treating Assassin's Creed even more carefully, though, I'm sure a great movie will come of it. The potential's definitely there.

Considering Michael's other high profile roles, I'll give this the benefit of the doubt...

P.S. I expect a high quality production value considering the game has many interesting settings such as Venice, Istanbul and so on....

PoP wasn't a commercial success despite being a semi enjoyable tune out flick. This will be a success simply because the franchise is far more relevant at the moment. Getting a name like Fassbender, that is well liked by the generalised target audience of young males, means they should see the returns on this that they wanted for PoP.

I thought the Prince of Persia movie was a credible effort, but I'm not too harsh on movies .

Looking at him, he'd suit the role of Desmond pretty well. While Ubi are planning to cut Desmond's story off in ACIII, maybe a movie based on the events after his time in the animus would be good.

Either way, I look forward to seeing what UMP produce. As a fan of the series, and as an active movie-goer.

I can't work out whether they would be better with a parkour athlete or an actor. Both have clear benefits to this kind of film and both have clear detriments. Hmm...

Euphoric They've likely got both planned. Stunt doubles and all that.

Yeah but when you've done a bit of film yourself spotting the difference becomes a lot easier and can ruin immersion totally. I'm sure any actors would do training and all that.

The Casino Royale scene with the bombmaker in the construction site was amazing because that guy was legit and knew exactly what he was doing. Took that scene from cool to fantastic just like that.

Dragoon If you think a bit more, you'll clearly see Michael Fassbender can do Altaïr better.

I think they ought to go along with the other pictures (Lineage and Embers) in this. Forget Desmond and focus on the Assassin at hand. There just isn't enough time in your average blockbuster to work the two storylines well. Bringing the viewer up to speed in all the Abstergo crap will take time, as well, and transform a history fiction in a sci-fi/history flick, which draws more from suspension of disbelief and doesn't add a lot.
