League of Legends North American servers hit with login problems, other issues
Update Should all be fixed by now, mind the queues
Update: All official posts regarding the problem have been removed, both from Twitter and the forums. In typical Riot fashion, this tends to mean the issue is, for the most part, resolved. See you on the Fields of Justice.
Looks like League of Legends has hit another snag tonight, at least for North American Leaguers. At this ungodly hour (for PST folks), Riot is investigating reports of login issues, PVP.net chat problems, and random game disconnects.
On the official "LoL Status" Twitter account, a recent post reads:
Summoners in NA! We are currently aware of the server issues going on right now and are working to get those resolved as soon as we can.
Just under two hours ago, International Community Coordinator "RiotMixdj" offered a slightly more detailed explanation via forums:
We are currently investigating problems with our servers at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience and will be updating this thread on a frequent basis. Current issues that are being looked into are:
Unable to Login to game
Chat Issues
Players being dropped from games
We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve these issues as fast as possible.
In that time, the thread has already picked up 51 pages of Leaguers expressing their disappointment (and rage). Not that anyone is surprised by this.
Last week, the free-to-play MOBA was plagued by major problems, as players reported insanely long queue times spanning several hours, missing content, and gameplay bugs (Baron on steroids, anyone?). Riot wound up taking the servers down entirely more than once to resolve the issues, though we continued seeing 20-minute queues through the weekend.

They changed a lot of backend stuff this patch, which "introduced a new bottleneck to the throughput" I believe is how they worded it. Server stability should be back to normal once they iron out the kinks of whatever they changed.
"I've told a client we can do this" Oh really? Well... we could, but it needs developing. What was that? You want it by next week.... right...
