$99 Xbox 360 program extends to retailers other than Microsoft Stores
Some Best Buy and GameStop now offering two-year contract
Microsoft's $99 Xbox 360 program has made its way to (some) Best Buy and GameStop stores as of today, meaning folks who want a 360 but can't afford to pay full price up front no longer need to find a Microsoft Store. Because we all know how common those are.
So here's the deal with this $99 pilot program. Buyers get a 4GB Xbox 360 and Kinect bundle for $99, but they'll also be locked into a two-year contract (Cell phone users everywhere just cringed.) for Xbox LIVE Gold at $15 per month. After two years, you'll have paid about $459 for the whole package.
Alternatively, the same bundle can be picked up separate for $250 to $300, while two years of Gold should cost no more than $100 total -- or less, if you happen to catch a deal on Amazon.com or someplace similar.
Still, it's nice to have options, especially since not everyone has a whole lot of dough on them at once.

Of course, it's not like it's horribly expensive to buy it all upfront, but I suppose for some people it might be if you haven't been saving. I think this is a great move on Microsoft's part, honestly.
