Are you serious??? A new handheld already?? If it was something new instead of just a bigger 3DS, I'd be saving my money now. But I don't need a bigger 3DS, so I think I'll wait.

Why all the whining? Its like you're complaining that Alienware put out a newer gaming PC with better specs a year and a half later for the same price. This isn't betrayal. You aren't forced to buy the XL, you weren't forced to buy the original, even at it's launch price. When you purchased your 3DS, you were saying "Yes, I think this is a fair amount to spend my money on." Did you guys cry every time Apple released a new Ipod?

To be honest, I welcome this news...3DS needs a bigger screen.

According to Capitalist/greedy marketing themes, it's normal for every gaming company to introduce new products/models every year or so!

I also expect another 3DS XL with 2 dual sticks in late 2013 or 2014!

P.S. Remember money-making through a bit of betrayal is common in Capitalism....

How are people surprised? Nintendo has revised and re-released ALL THEIR HANDHELDS! I'm sorry, but you're an idiot if you didn't think they were going to make a new 3DS. This probably won't be the last one either. They'll probably make another one, maybe even two more. This is a trend with Nintendo that they have ALWAYS done. Get over it.

WHAT THE HELL?!?!? Way to reward your faithful fans, Nintendo. Screw them yet AGAIN by coming out with cheaper, newer, better versions of the original 1000000 different times do they either have to be completely broke or not have the best. Why don't you just perfect a system BEFORE you release it so you don't screw the people that always buy your crap right away? So fed up. I always vouche for you and your stupid decisions but I'm done.
Not sure if trolling...

It's a more expensive, larger ds that has no upsides to it other than being bigger (which may actually be a turnoff for some).

I was hoping the second analog stick would come included.

No second circle pad? Despite them realising it was needed they still didn't add one to a brand new hardware SKU.. Let me guess they want idiots to buy this and then buy a 3DS XL version of the Circle Pad Pro? Nintendo don't think one circle pad is fine they just realised they could make $30 extra off everyone that buys this..

If it actually has MORE pixels instead of just bigger pixels, I'll be interested, but I seriously doubt that.
It's just so soon after the 3DS came out that I find this disappointing. I thought they might do this, but I also thought they'd give it more time. Oh well. I hope it's successful for them, but I'll probably stick to my limited edition black/gold 3DS.
As bluexy said, generally these improvements are aesthetic changes not actual overhauls for performance as they'd segment the market even more with DS/DSi/3DS/3DS XL all in the same space. Larger panels, same resolution though and possibly some form of clear type to help reduce any blur.

@ JemsNewton No mention of increased screen resolution, just 90% more screen size.
