Resident Evil 6 gameplay videos feature survival horror, zombies, objective markers
Which one of these does not belong?
You may have caught some live or cam footage of Resident Evil 6 at this year's E3, but either way, this direct, 720p footage is worth checking out. There's about 20 minutes of it, and wouldn't you know it, it actually resembles the old classic RE you know and love (you did play those ones, right?). Not only is it actual survival horror, there are zombies. Wild stuff.
Now for the bad news: there's an objective marker constantly on screen. You know, in case you have trouble figuring out how to run from one side of a room to another, you incompetent lout. Hopefully Capcom offers an option to turn this off and the open door indicators as well so we can just forget about this silliness altogether and actually get immersed. This is a survival horror game, after all.
Enough of my jabbering. Watch these. And if you're curious about the four-player story feature they added, you can read about that in our impressions.

It's the 6 right? I mean, how can there be a 6 if there wasn't a 5
Sure, those would be nice editions, but it lacks what made the original Resident Evil so appealing. Capcom wants this to appeal to all audiences, but they are gradually turning Resident Evil into something completely different; a FPS with a touch of survival horror.
EDIT: Now that I've watched the videos, I think that so far they have done a good job of balancing the two. You win this round Capcom :
Also that hud wtf. 500 people working on it and not one of them pointed it out? tsk, tsk, tsk.
Resident evil is going to way of the rainbow 6 games: more action, less planning, moving far away from its roots, easier gameplay, bucket loads of hand-holding, etc. You can call it a modernization, but it feels more like theyre whoring out the series.
Just wish theyd make these kind of games a spin-off of the series, not push them as proper series canon.
I expect really high standards from Capcom and above all, a consistency of quality from the developers of this game!
