Capcom has announced that Clover's Okami will be getting an HD makeover for the PS3, titled Okami HD. Not too creative, but it gets the idea across well enough.
Okami HD will be released to PSN some time this fall (November 1 in Japan) with an anticipated price tag of $20. As its name implies, the downloadable game will feature fully integrated HD graphics and 16:9 aspect ratio. As for the brush controls, Move will also be fully supported, letting players manipulate the in-game brush tool with motion -- or just thumbsticks.
Okami was first released to PS2 in 2006 under Clover Studio, then in 2008 for Wii. In 2010, the handheld sequel Okamiden debuted, despite initial hesitation on Capcom's part regarding Okami's overall lukewarm performance. That said, it's probably one of the best games I've ever played, and the original received critical acclaim for its unique brush-based gameplay and Eastern inspired art direction.
Seriously, if you haven't tried the game on PS2 or Wii, strongly consider checking it out on PSN. Also, watch the trailer while you're here for a preview of those HD colors.
