THQ president: "Everyone's out there beating us up"
Jason Rubin defends his new company against critics
Jason Rubin, THQ's new president, has said those who are skeptical of the publisher due to their financial predicament don't recognize the strength and breadth of its software line-up.
Rubin stated that games such as South Park: The Stick of Truth, as well as Metro: Last Light and Company of Heroes 2 are all quality titles but yet naysayers continue to predict that such titles still won't be able to save THQ.
"How many titles got people walking up on stage at the Xbox conference? Well THQ did. Everyone's out there beating us up, but there we were, along with the big games. Everyone's saying, 'Oh, look, Stick of Truth.' They're looking forward to it, that could be huge... but 'THQ isn't going to make it'.
"There seems to be this disconnect. Metro gets best game shown nominations, but 'THQ may not make it'. Company of Heroes - nominations, but 'THQ isn't going to make it'. People are so used to the downward slope that they don't see that it can flatten out. So I'm here to make it flatten out and then turn the corner."
Jason Rubin, who is a co-founder of Naughty Dog, as well as creating the iconic Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter franchise, was appointed by THQ as their president last month due to a "major leadership restructuring" at the publisher. His interviews, though, have led him to clarify several quotes including one about dropping Darksiders.
In addition to the above titles THQ has in the pipeline, the studio also has Crytek working on a successor to Homefront.

Fortunately for us their stunning release schedule is augmented by high quality AAA indie releases by CD Projekt and Frictional so there is lots of choice there. Though it does show that EA and Activision need to change up their game plan as they may be big now but it doesn't take much to fall. If gamers stop buying their one big game a year they are finished.
They have been making good game after good game for the last 5 years. I actually struggle to think of a single publisher that has been so consistent. THQ as a publisher do not deserve to be where they are they really don't. The games I listed earlier are games out now and does not include;
Darksiders II.. inSANE.. Warhammer 40k: Dark Millenium.. Metro: Last Light.. Homefront 2.. Company of Heroes 2.. Saints Row 4..
THQ have one hell of a recent history and one of the most promising futures if they can just get past their financial troubles. I hope they do as their commitment to creating new and fresh IP's is what the industry needs, sequels get tiring and THQ are a bastion for creativity these days.
PS. Just to add, before this generation started most of the games listed didn't exist they were all created by THQ's studios over the last 5-6 years. That alone is unique the fact that Saints Row, Metro, Homefront, Darksiders, Company of Heroes and STALKER were all brand new IP's created or funded by THQ in an era where companies like EA who can afford to take risks were too scared to.
Also, Metro next year, can't wait for that. Company of heroes is meh for me but still.
That's not to say I don't love games from other companies as well (Halo 4, Transformers are up there next to Darksiders), but looking at THQ's current lineup, I'm pretty stoked.
