Since the announcement of Overstrike, Insomnic Games' first multiplatform title, the shooter has largely remained out of the spotlight. EA has explained why that has been the case and the decision to not show the game at E3.
EA labels president Frank Gibeau explained that the development team are dedicated to making the "right" game, subsequently meaning that the shooter will only be shown when they're satisfied.
"We’re very excited about Overstrike. It’s a new IP and we want to make it the right game, so they’re taking some extra time to nail the gameplay and the quality.
"It felt like we would stand out better later in the summer once we’ve hit some key milestones and we’re able to show off more."
Following their long relationship with Sony and their platforms, Insomniac had signed a deal with EA Partners in 2010 to allow a PS3 and Xbox 360 launch of Overstrike.
