Activision isn't a stranger to mobile gaming and apps, but now the publishing juggernaut is looking to publish third-party mobile titles, not just their own.
Teaming up with Flurry Inc., the mobile analytics and monetization platform, Acti hopes to find a place for themselves publishing, distributing, and promoting (perhaps even a little developing) independent titles for iOS and Android by third-party developers.
Studios who choose to partner with Activision for said needs will have their games published under the Activision Mobile Publishing brand, but devs will "retail full IP control of their existing intellectual property."
It's likely a very tempting option for small companies looking to put their project in the spotlight. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg states:
"A world class partner such as Flurry will position Activision for mobile growth in the future and we are confident our relationship will yield significant insight into mobile development and distribution. Additionally, Activision and Flurry are uniquely qualified to provide mobile developers with funding, resources and unmatched marketing expertise, while also allowing them to retain their intellectual property. We are confident this relationship and our new platform will yield significant results and are excited to launch it."
