Tribes: Ascend will see more weapons, maps, forever free item upgrades soon

Tribes: Ascend players will soon see a major update to the shooter which brings in more weapon rebalancing, a bunch of new weapons, two new maps, and most importantly, a significant shift in how you acquire upgrades.

Whenever the patch hits (I'd guess next week), weapon and armor upgrades will be attained in a more traditional way: by using them. Developer Hi-Rez says this means you'll be able to earn upgrades simultaneously, and in general much more quickly. New weapons and perks will be the focus of microtransactions from then on. Note that if you like, you can still master weapons using XP.
