We've wanted to see a female Assassin for some time, and Ubisoft finally delivers with Assassin's Creed III Liberation. It's apparently a spin-off to Connor's game, starring a woman by the name of Aveline, who fights against the Spanish Empire in 18th century New Orleans.
Sadly, the first female Assassin in the series is making her debut exclusively on handheld, and you'll need a PlayStation Vita to experience this adventure. According to Ubisoft, this is the first time they're bringing "the full Assassin's Creed experience to a handheld device," evidently hoping to make up for the lukewarm response to their PSP and DS games in the franchise.
"Assassin’s Creed III Liberation includes key pillars of the franchise that fans of the series know and love, including combat, free-roaming navigation and a rich story full of intrigue and twists, delivering a true Assassin’s Creed experience to the PS Vita system," reads the announcement.
The first screenshots can be seen here, in addition to a very brief debut trailer.
