Sony @ E3 2012 Live Blog: Beyond, All-Stars Battle Royale, God of War: Ascension, Last of Us
It could be an all-star battle royale of PlayStation titles tonight
Sony Computer Entertainment round off a busy day for the media with their own E3 2012 press conference. Expect to hear of their previews of Last of Us, God of War: Ascension and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. And hey, maybe some cool exclusives like Beyond: Two Souls.
7:25 PM That conference certainly ended on heckuva a note with The Last of Us! Time for the press conference wrap-up.
7:23 PM Health is quickly turning into a precious resource. As are shotgun headshots.
7:22 PM Teamwork is awesome, especially when a kid kicks ass. :)
7:21 PM Shootouts are dangerous! As are ambushes.
7:20 PM Crouch walking is handy when it comes to silent looter takedowns.
7:19 PM Very atmospheric, Naughty Dog knows its stuff.
7:18 PM Gameplay is set amidst great looking backdrops.
7:17 PM Finally! Last of Us!
7:15 PM Ascension due Mar 12th 2013.
7:14 PM The God of War knows how to go Uncharted when he eneeds to, but don't worry, Kratos knows how to put the put the hurt on anything, from giant elephant men to krakens.
7:11 PM Now Kratos has the power to rebuild, which comes in handy when you need to get to places.
7:11 PM Well of course there are air hike moves.
7:09 PM The gameplay trailer wastes no time in getting bloody with Kratos. The combos are brutal, and so are the finishing moves. It's a bad day for goat-men.
7:08 PM Tretton now introduces God of War Ascension.
7:06 PM PlayStation Suite is no longer. It's FINALLY called PlayStation Mobile.
7:05 PM More PlayStation Certified phones coming this year. More manufacturers like HTC, a familiar name for Android users.
7:04 PM Book of Spells confirmed for Fall 2012 release.
7:02 PM Wand can also be used in mini-games that involve blasting objects on screen. Now I too can get House Points!
6:59 PM Well now I get to be a wizard thanks to Book of Spells. The wand of course is the PS Move wand.
6:54 PM J.K. Rowling collaboration, Book of Spells.
6:53 PM Diverse library (uh hoh!) promised for Wionderbook; Moonbot Studios will be working on a new IP for the peripheral.
6:52 PM Wonderbook is an augemented reality title using a book peripheral for the PS3, using PlayStation Eye. Supports controller as well.
6:51 PM SCE president Andrew House teases innovative new experience invovling a book.
6:49 PM More exclusive DLC for Ubisoft titles on PS3.
6:47 PM Revive your fallen comrades, cuz that's teamwork!
6:45 PM Hay reveals four player co-op mode, teased as a game within a game.
6:44 PM ACIII will also launch on PS3 with a new hardware bundle. Now its time for Far Cry 3 with Dan Hay, again!
6:43 PM Gameplay demo ends with some boarding action!
6:40 PM Ship battles are all about lining up for cannon broadsides, but enemy ships can be more resilient than you expect.
6:39 PM This trailer focuses on ship sailing with Conner. Yo ho ho!
6:38 PM New Assassin's Creed III producers Alex Huchinson and Phillipe Ducharme are on stage to deliver a new look at the title for PS3.
6:37 PM Oct. 30th release date confirmed for Liberation, launching with bundle with White Vita handheld.
6:36 PM New Assassin's Creed Vita trailer finally revealed. It's ACIII Liberation, featuring the franchise's first heroine.
6:35 PM Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified confirmed for PS Vita.
6:33 PM PS3 wants to be the center of your living room too! Hulu Plus and Crackle coming to Vita.
6:33 PM PSOne Classics confirmed for download on PS Vita! Including FFVII.
6:32 PM Everyone in the audience gets one year free membership of PlayStation Plus!!! I am jealous of Vegitax right now.
6:31 PM PlayStation Plus members will get 12 new titles for free download like inFamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Saints Row 2, starting tomorrow.
6:30 PM 200 new PSN titles over the coming year.
6:30 PM A shout out for Journey, the best-selling PSN title yet!
6:29 PM 80% of PS3s and PS VItas are connected to PSN, apparently.
6:28 PM Cross-controller DLC between PS3 and PS Vita confirmed for LittleBigPlanet 2.
6:26 PM Uncharted's Nathan Drake and BioShock's Big Daddy are confirmed as playable characters for Battle Royale!
6:26 PM Like Smash Bros., it's just as hard to tell who actually did well!
6:23 PM Build Super meter levels to trigger powerful attacks. Some Supers even change the stages to a character's advantage.
6:22 PM Each character of course plays quite a bit differently from each other for variety, but of course it can't yet shake the Smash Bros. vibe. It's certainly kinetic enough though.
6:22 PM Cross platform play is demonstrated between the SuperBot players, live.
6:20 PM The trailer starts suitably overblown enough, but it can't match the entrance of the SuperBot lead by Chan Park who confirms Battle Royale is cross compatible with PS3.
6:20 PM Now its time for All-Stars Battle Royale!
6:18 PM Tretton can't help pimp the PS3 as the right pallete for a title like Beyond, of course!
6:16 PM The trailer concludes with an intense flashback with Holmes, who seems to be speaking with someone else unseen. Cage promises a unique journey, at the very least.
6:15 PM Holmes issues a dire warning, and sure enough things look hairy with the SWAT dropping in unexpected.
6:12 PM Real-time footage commences, and we're introduced to Holmes who at first seems reclusive. It's definitely photorealistic, as expected from Quantic Dream.
6:11 PM Beyond will explore the 15 years of Jody Holmes' life, voiced by Ellen Page. Holmes is a character who is in touch with the "other side."
6:10 PM Cage announces Beyond, just as revealed earlier today!
6:09 PM Tretton now sets the stage for Quantic Dream's next title by introducing David Cage.
6:08 PM Tretton also pays tribute to Sony Corp. president and CEO Kaz Hirai, who naturally has a front row seat.
6:06 PM You can't deny how enthused the audience to be a part of the show, and it doesn't hurt that Tretton is grateful for the support for gamers.
6:05 PM After a montage of footage from titles across all Sony platforms, SCEA CEO Jack Tretton takes the stage to begin the show proper. He wants to soak the crowd in.
6:00 PM PlayStation Blog hosts Jeff Rubenstein and Christina Lee have helped us get psyched for the main event thus far, now bang of gong we are on!
