A new installment in the Splinter Cell franchise has been revealed at E3. Dubbed Splinter Cell Blacklist, it takes series mainstay Sam Fisher to the Iran/Iraq border, and features an emphasis on fluid combat.
Judging from the gameplay trailer, Blacklist is as much a traditional Splinter Cell game as it isn't, featuring plenty of stealth and tactics, but also lots of daylit gameplay and a setting choice that feels odd (at least for now), though not necessarily unwelcome.
Dialogue and cutscenes appear remarkably immersive, well-written, and intense, while general gameplay benefits greatly from new, realistic animations.
It's certainly not the same old, same old, but to those who appreciate fresh design, this could prove a very exciting game for Splinter Cell fans.
Blacklist launches on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in spring 2013.
