Pre-order Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for day one access to four DLC characters
Michelle Chang, Angel, Kunimitsu and Ancient Ogre will all eventually be free
This morning Namco Banda has confirmed that four DLC characters for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be available day one for pre-order customers. Pre-ordering from Amazon or Best Buy will acquire you Michelle Chang and Angel, while preordering from Gamestop nets you both of the afore mentioned characters in addition to Kunimitsu and Ancient Ogre. These DLC characters will be made available for free at a later date to all customers.
Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken project director at Namco Bandia, had this to say regarding the DLC:
“Pleasing our fans is of paramount importance to the TEKKEN development team, therefore we are giving players full access to the wide array of fighters in TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2 at no additional cost. The roster of playable characters in any fighting game is an essential factor in contributing to a player’s overall experience. By offering DLC characters at no additional cost to players, we are able to deliver a pure TEKKEN experience to all of our fans.”
Katsuhiro goes on to promise more exciting content in the future, though hopefully that doesn't mean paid DLC characters like that other fighting game out right now. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will release September 10 later this year.
To be frank, I'm still a bit uncomfortable with the idea of pre-order characters, even if they are to be made free at a later date. Contradictory to what Katsuhiro says, there's still going to be community segregation until the exclusivity period ends. Fighting games, why can't you keep things simple?
