COD=cost of development
Ahh, I mistook that for Call of Duty XD
My bad, I'll refrain from mixing business abbreviations with popular video game franchises on tech sites in the future

So this is whats all the commotion about. Hmm looking good so far, how is it better the n Unreal 3 engine? And is it going to make me all hot and heavy over it lol?
I heard it's well optimized.

Sounds like this is Epic's way of nudging Sony and MS to beef up whatever specs their next-gen consoles might have!

They're pretty much the defacto that a lot of studios use (engine wise). It'd be nice to see some video footage though, should be some at E3.

That looks awesome sauce. I can't wait to see what games utilize this.

Hopefully ue4 doesnt follow the odd and turbulent early development cycle ue3 did. All ue3 based games looked / felt the same for what felt like the entire first half of this generation.

Gotta love new tech though, and like the article said, we're likely to see much more of what the engine can really do. Show me show me show me

As we speak publishers are crapping their pants at the astronomical costs of development.
How'd you conclude that COD's are going to rise? Better quality doesn't necessarily mean > COD, this was demonstrated through the refinements to UE3.

Wait...what are you talking about and how is it relevant to my post?

aside from boatloads of particles, i dont really see anything new or fancy that a fully updated unreal engine 3 doesnt do.

it does look great however... but the good samaritan tech demo was more impressive looking to me.

lets see the engine running on a tri-sli gtx 680 rig; show what the engine can do with performance a single card will have in a few years, presumably when ue4 games will come out.
Unreal Engine can probably do everything that UE4 can, just that the features will presumably be more easily accessible since they were implemented from day 1 and there will be native next gen console support.
