One of the more interesting rumors of late may be GameStop's alleged plans to start carrying Steam gift cards.
The rumor, like so many others, comes by way of Reddit, where a user posted an image from Kotaku (seen on the right) that supposedly shows the Steam gift card. The card boasts a prominent Steam logo and the description: "The Ultimate Online Gaming Platform."
GameStop has been moving away from PC games for some time now, stocking fewer boxed titles and excluding PC games from their buyback program. Still, as the retail giant begins offering its own brand of digital services, Valve's insanely popular digital platform ought to be a major competitor; not to mention GameStop also owns digital delivery service Impulse, which they bought from Stardock just last year.
Since then, Stardock titles (formerly Impulse exclusives) have been migrating to Steam. Either way, the rumor could very well be true, because competitors or not, the move would benefit both GameStop and Valve immensely.
