God of War designer David Jaffe has showered praise for the next iteration in the IP he created, God of War: Ascension. The outspoken developer believes that its multiplayer component in particular, which is a first for the series, won't detract from the game's campaign.
Jaffe responded to concerns by fans regarding the direction developer Sony Santa Monica Studios is taking with the recently announced PS3 exclusive.
"I think it looks cool. It looks like another great, impeccably executed Sony Santa Monica game. I think that anger is well deserved for people who have felt that way for certain games, but I think so far -- you know what I was Tweeting about was -- Sony Santa Monica, and certainly that team, really hasn't done anything ever to let people down as game developers.
"If it turns out to be the case that the single player is watered down because of it, then I think they have some justification. But I don't see any evidence of that, and I don't see evidence of that based on the team they are."
God of War: Ascension is currently scheduled for a release during the spring of 2013. For a taste of what its multiplayer will offer, we've included gameplay footage of the title in action below.
