Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive announced the Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition this morning, as well as the "Harley Quinn's Revenge" DLC pack. The GOTY Edition will come bundled with this often teased Harley DLC, also labeled as the "Final Chapter" of Arkham City, and will land on shelves May 29 for PS3 and Xbox 360 -- no mention of the PC. If you're just interested in the Harley DLC, she'll be on sale solo starting April 30, as confirmed through Twitter.
To accompany the announcements we have a fancy trailer, which contains a list of all the DLC, pre-order bonuses and extra goodies contained in the GOTY box. Here's what to expect, along with a full copy of the original game, of course:
- Catwoman DLC Pack
- Nightwing DLC Pack
- Robin DLC Pack
- Arkham City Skin and Challenge Map Pack
- Batman Year One movie download
- Harley Quinn's Revenge DLC Pack
On their own, all of these DLC pack would cost you just short of $30, altogether. Add a free movie to the bundle and you'll be asking yourself, "Wow, I might have paid for all of this separately, before! How dumb!" Expect the special edition to cost at least $40, but perhaps a full $60 at retail.
As a renter, I was quite a bit disappointed that I would miss out on the retail bundled Catwoman DLC. In the end I figured if it was that important Rocksteady would have put it directly in the game. Now, however, it appears that Batman: Arkham City's "Final Chapter" will only be made available through post-launch DLC, and my disappointment is returning. I love Batman, him and I go way back, but why is he always rifling through my pockets?
