Halo 4 screenshots and artwork show new look for Grunts, Elites

So we're thinking of renaming this week "Halo 4 Week." It's only been a couple days since we got a solid date for Master Chief's return, and now we're seeing a healthy batch of new screenshots and artwork being leaked.

The collection of assets is quite interesting, giving us a good look at not only new Spartan armor but also the new look for Elites and Grunts. Both races, shown in the gallery below, wear much lighter armor now, leaving much skin exposed. It's a pretty cool design shift, and one that actually makes a lot of sense -- with the Covenant no longer, y'know, existing.

We're not sure if Master Chief will be fighting these guys, but just knowing they'll be coming back is a nice treat for the fans. While wouldn't mind seeing the rest of the ex-Covenant menagerie return, a new race would also be quite welcome. So long as the Flood stays dead, everyone's happy.

I love this screenshot. The textures on the BR are amazingly crisp, and the lighting gives the room such an eery atmosphere.

^ I'm actually incredibly impressed with the Grunt/Elite designs. It's a nice contrast to their Covenant armor and reflects that loss of military pride and organization.

Agreed. Definitely makes them feel more alien as well.

I don't think these Elites are you're average Elites. The reason being is that the Sangheili are not the type of people to break a truce, they find betrayal dishonorable and punish it with death. These Elites are more than likely renegade.

I still think it's funny that the Covenant keep giving their grunts more and more upgraded armor, as if they don't die in a single shot.

That being said, everything looks great. I'm very much enjoying the look of the Spartan IVs. The "scale" design between their armor pieces is reminiscent of Crysis, and the new helmets almost remind me of Doom. Lighting looks to be at its finest, and the one first person screen is just an overall very impressive view at what is sure to be mind-blowing in gameplay.
