The Sniper Elite V2 demo is finally up and working on Steam, so with that I took a look and grabbed some footage and screens. If you haven't downloaded it yet, this should prove good incentive. And if you have, well, it's still likely worth checking out.
First thing's first: as a PC game, it holds up, delivering quite a few graphics and control options, customizable keys, precise aiming, and a very smooth and consistent 95-105fps with Ultra settings on my 6950 GPU and 1055t CPU, and just a bit lower than that while recording. Full marks, here.
The demo level is extremely linear, unfortunately, which hurts the game some, but the actual shooty bits are so fun I can't condemn it too much.
Movement feels kind of clunky, but since you'll be spending most of your time in cover or sniping, it's not a big hindrance. That kill cam I thought obnoxious after checking out console demo footage actually proves pretty entertaining and satisfying during actual gameplay. Still, an option to disable it would be nice -- unfortunately there isn't one.
In short, it's well worth the download, and quite likely a purchase, too. Hit your source of choice or PSN to grab the demo for yourself.
