I'm sure they are going to blame piracy or used sales or some crap to make up for the fact that there simply wasn't a single new game other than ME3 (which is debatable) worth buying the entire month.

Not sure if you're just being sarcastic, but it was clearly the games that made the difference. There would have to be a huge increase in piracy to account for such a large difference, since most sales are on consoles and most piracy is done on PCs. Used game sales don't really make a difference either, since most games bought here were released in March. And yeah, last March's titles were definitely more popular.
