You would think we'd be over this whole "Bungie moves on" thing by now, but grieving takes time. That, and the Halo creator just won't stop reminding us of all the good times we had, swishing and fragging and blargh-balling.
Over the weekend, Bungie released some mind-blowing player statistics that they've collected since 2004, and the numbers are staggering. Since then, the Halo community has accumulated over 136 billion kills, split across Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach. The third Halo stands on top with 76 billion multiplayer kills, while Halo 2 follows up with 36 billion and Reach at 23 billion.
If you're wondering about Firefight, ODST players racked up 51 million games with 5.5 billion kills and 1.3 trillion points earned. Reach adds another 298 million matches to ODST's count, plus 24 billion kills and 11.5 trillion points.
All in all, the Halo community has built over 2 billion hours of play time since Halo 2. You can see some of these stats below.
We'll sure miss having you at the helm, Bungie. Currently, the studio is looking to fill PlayStation 3 and mobile/server engineering positions.
