Big day for Transformers fans, what with Fall of Cybertron finally getting a solid release date and gameplay premiere. Oh yeah, we said "release date," and it's not in the middle of fall during the ridiculous holiday surge. Instead, expect Transformers: Fall of Cybertron this summer, on August 28.
Fall of Cybertron is a direct sequel to High Moon Studios' highly successful (and incredibly nostalgic) War for Cybertron, which also enjoyed a summer launch back in 2010. After much teasing throughout the months since the game's initial reveal, High Moon and Activision have released two videos focused entirely on Fall of Cybertron's gameplay. Well, sort of.
The first trailer, "Our World," gives us our first glimpse of how the game actually looks, but we're going to have to wait a while longer for direct gameplay. The second video, a behind-the-scenes look at the game with High Moon developers, is considerably more enlightening, as the team discusses some of the changes to expect in Fall of Cybertron. High Moon's Greg Agius notes the gameplay in War for Cybertron lacked "meaningful variety," specifically between the different characters, but that all changes in the sequel.
