Arcade Next is the Xbox 360's big spring showcase for high profile XBLA titles. What used to be an annual (and now seasonal) occurrence appears to be Microsoft throwing an event together to maximize sales on a specfic title. That title in the Arcade Next event is of course Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, or as people like to call it: Minecraft.
Rounding out the event will be Trials Evolution, Bloodforge and Fable Heroes. Here's the release information for each of them:
- Trials Evolution, April 18 for 1200 MSP - Physics-based motorcycle racer with 2-4 players locally or online.
- Bloodforge, April 25 for 1200 MSP - Gory third-person action, but what do you expect from a game named Bloodforge?
- Fable Heroes, May 2 for 800 MSP - 4 player hack and slash adventure, more akin to classic arcade brawlers than the Fable franchise. Made for Kinect.
- Minecraft, May 9 for 1600 MSP - Blocks and blocks and blocks and blocks.
In addition to the above games, Microsoft will be changing current XBLA policy so that downloadable games will allow up to 30 Achievements with a maximum of 400 Gamerscore. This should allow developers to be creative and have fun with Achievements. This policy won't effect any older XBLA games, but all new ones will have this option, including the games released in Arcade Next.
Also, "Arcade Next," really? As cheesy as "House Party" and "Summer of Arcade" are, I didn't think these event titles could get any hokier until now.
