"The video game industry has a responsibility to parents..."
Parents are just too ret**ded to understand that we made it black and white for them.

lol, the only time I see someone warning a child about the rating of a game is from a store clerk warning the parents to warn the kids I don't see this changing anything. Seen a lot of parents just not care about what games their kids play. maybe we should work on that :0 (hehe only say that because it no longer involves me )

They're always gonna need a scapegoat for society's ills. Comic books, rock and roll, rap...this generation, it's just video games' turn. Give it time and it will blow over to something else.

Edit: Haha, my favorite lyric from Blame Canada just sprung to mind. "We must blame them because of us before somebody thinks of blaming us". xD

Funny thing about rap music, it is influential to younger people...
Most of the time it doesn't promote things as horrible as GG Allin did with his music but it's had its moments where idiots think that it's a good idea to follow shitty things that happen in the 'song'.

btw

quote
"The video game industry has a responsibility to parents, families and to consumers — to inform them of the potentially damaging content that is often found in their products...

Pretty sure if that doesn't cover the bases I'm not sure what does. If a parent decides that all of the above are perfectly fine for little Timmy then it's on the parent 100%.

Given how inept the duo is, this only means that game companies are doing their job and they want to blame them instead of the parent who also lets Timmy drink gas out of the lawn mower.

It's almost sad how biased this attempt is anyway given it fails to address any other medium that actually depicts real physical violence. You can get as psuedo realistic as you want in GTA but it wont match someone getting ripped in half during a horror flick and fake organs and blood shooting all over the place.

Yes, I agreed with the fact that cigarrette package needs 'Health warning labels' because smoking causes cancers...

But videogames obviosuly do not cause cancer or other maladies...

Why would we(gamers) need warning labels on our game box?

Above all, U.S.Congressmen need a big C#@@OCK in their mouths otherwise they won't shut up about blaming gaming industry for violence and crimes!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Unemployment and Poverty cause crimes/violence 'NOT' videogames, stupid Congressmen!!!!

I would go on about how there is ignorance in this news thread about music, slap you around with it a bit then redirect you to great poets, but I'm tired of repeating myself. Not everything on the radio is the face of that certain genre, definitely shit like Soulja Boy follow this completely. You forget that the radio only plays what the companies make them play, which is usually this club music crap. You also forget that rap is more creative writing(not that the radio shows this, mind you) and poetic than some give it credit. Any song from Lupe Fiasco will show you this.
Back on topic.

I find it funny how these guys seem to think there isn't already a huge warning/rating label telling the parents what is and isn't okay for certain ages. The game industry does its part, when the hell are the parents gonna do theirs?

This instance could also be argued by showing these idiots that games actually promote education. I'd be amazed at their current level of stupidity if I wasn't aware of Einstein's quote.

The problem is that people don't hear the 'good' rap, just the crap they play on the radio. It's not an issue of whether a musical style is good or bad, its an issue of what people listen to. Most people listen to the radio.

Excellent points. More often than not parents nowadays will read the warning labels and ignore them, or just be too stupid to look at them.

This isn't the only instance in which some parents aren't doing their part, but those points are for another time.
