It got big with the Double Fine adventure, then followed suit with Wasteland 2, and more recently The Banner Saga and a new Tex Murphy game -- guess this Kickstarter funding is a real thing now, huh?
Wasteland 2's Brian Fargo recognizes what's happening and is proposing a "Kick it Forward" campaign, where for any Kickstarter funded game that receives a profit upon release, 5% of those profits be donated to other Kickstarter game projects.
"Imagine the potential if another Minecraft comes along via Kickstarter and produces millions of dollars of investment into other developers," he writes. "This economic payback will continue to grow the movement way beyond the current system. I hope others will join me with this idea and make this a true shakeup. Let's get the power shifted around a bit!"
Reception to the idea so far seems to be quite positive. Fargo says he'll have a website and more for "Kick it Forward" soon.
