Diehard fans of the Persona series will recognize the newest addition to the Persona 4: Arena lineup: Elizabeth.
The Velvet Room's Elizabeth was a relationship option in Persona 3: FES and gave the protagonist side missions to do through out the game's progress. Last we heard of her was in Persona 4, when Margaret tells us Elizabeth had left the Velvet Room to find a means to save Minato from his fate at the previous game's end.
Perhaps the P-1 Grand Prix is entangled with her goals? Maybe it isn't? Whatever the case, Elizabeth's fighting style, like her motives, is very much a mystery to us. What we do know about her is that she is aided by the Death Arcana's Thanatos and has the uncanny ability to switch the HP and SP of her opponent around. Her high-risk ability does cause a bit of concern for how balanced she will be in the game, but we won't know until her release to Japanese arcades April 5.
Along with Elizabeth, Shadow Labrys has been announced and will make her appearance as a playable character April 19. For those who haven't seen the Japanese gameplay videos, the mecha girl's shadow appears at the end of arcade mode. Wielding the same axe as its normal self, Shadow Labrys is accompanied by a bull that lurks around on screen.
Also the previously showcased Labrys will be available in arcades March 22. With their early availability to arcades, it's more than likely that the characters will be ready for the console version this summer. Whether or not they will be included has yet to be confirmed.
